Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

Eco Pampa has been remodelled to be a low energy consuming building. This is done by:

* Using natural light as much as possible
* Solar powered hot water system
* Solar powered cells used to recharge guest cell phones, computers and rechargeable batteries
* Using low energy consuming electrical appliances
* Installing rain water tanks on the roof that are used to irrigate the plants and organic garden
* Using recycled furniture in rooms and common areas
* Implementing a recycling program including an organic waste system which is used as fertilizer on the rooftop garden
* Encouraging the use of travelling by foot and bicycle. Bikes can be rented and there is space to park your own bike within the hostel
* All staff members are educated about the benefits of sustainable practices so that they can use these skills outside of the workplace
