About Us
Hola from Vamos Adventure Travel...your local connection in Buenos Aires, Argentina! This booking portal is locally owned and operated by a group of ecologically friendly people that actually live in Argentina.
The team at Vamos Adventure Travel has turned the city upside down to find the best hotels, restaurants with the premium cuts of beef and the most thrilling tours to showcase it all. Our local connection loves the constant feeling of change in this port city; you can walk past the most magnificently designed buildings (such as the Colon Theatre or the Congress) and be aware that during one stage of history, this was one of the richest cities in the world. Then, as you cross cracked footpaths heading towards vacant buildings, one recognizes the modern reality; this blend of history and modern day creates a distinctive feeling.
Buenos Aires is a dynamic city with every street oozing its own unique identity and character.
A little about who we are...
Vamos Adventure Travel is a component of Vamos, which is the Argentine parent company that started in 2009. The mission of Vamos is to give visitors a more genuine insight into Argentina and its true culture. Vamos was initiated by four entrepreneurs and the company has branched into several different ventures; one offshoot is the Vamos Adventure Travel arm and another being the Vamos Spanish Academy . The Vamos Spanish Academy is a language school based in Buenos Aires that aims to help foreigners learn the language and, therefore, increase interaction with locals and learn more about the country.
The Vamos Adventure Travel is a local tour operator that seeks to organize engaging tours to step outside of the normal realm of walking tours and tango shows. We endeavour to provide hands-on experiences for our clients that showcase the true Argentine culture. We handcraft educational group tours and independent tours for individuals in Buenos Aires and around Argentina.
Marlo Perry is the partner that mainly oversees the operations of the Vamos Adventure Travel portion of Vamos. She is originally from Australia, though she has spent more time outside of her home country that living in it. Marlo was reared in an international hostel and was instilled with a desire to travel and meet people from all over the world at an early age. She gained a degree in Ecotourism and has true passion for implementing sustainable tourism practices. Marlo first came to South America in 1994 for a family vacation and then returned in 1997 to attend high school in Cusco, Peru for a yearlong high school exchange program. In 2002 she returned for some independent travelling to explore the continent and then arrived in 2007 to work as a tour leader with Intrepid Travel.
After years of travelling and working in South America, Marlo was confident that she wanted her home base to be Buenos Aires. The Argentine capital has a heady mix of culture, festivals, sports and plenty of other happenings. She appreciates how the city is complex and always full of surprises. The Buenos Aires natives (Porteños) are unlike other people in big cities. The people here never rush and are genuinely warm and hospitable. Marlo has certainly been enchanted by Buenos Aires' ways and thoroughly enjoys sharing what she has found with her clients.
What we bring to Buenos Aires...
Responsible tourism is a relatively new concept to Buenos Aires and we plan to be a frontrunner in this field. We have a recycling policy in our office and we inform all of our language students and tour participants of how to dispose of their trash. We collect food and clothing donations for local charities and a nearby soup kitchen. Our bathrooms use recycled water that is captured from our air conditioning units.
All of our students in the Vamos Language Academy are given a canvas bag that says "Yo no uso bolsas de plástico' - I don't use plastic bags.
We have joined the Green Drinks group in Buenos Aires, which is a great way to share ideas and make connections with like-minded people in the environmental field. We partner with accommodations that are gearing their business in a more eco-friendly direction and we support their initiatives.
We are currently working on an additional component of the Vamos company with a volunteer placement program, which would also focus on the environment. Our organization reaches out to the community whenever possible and we are presently planning tree planting days, rubbish collection days and city garden tending.
We look forward to being part of the whl network and promoting Buenos Aires. We love the unique concept of having a local connection on the ground to assist clients; this is priceless for the travellers in addition to the hotel and tour operators. We are interested to see the direction this innovative company takes and are thrilled to be included in that movement.
Our team at Vamos Adventure Travel has a passion for delivering true insight into Buenos Aires; we share the beauty and variety of this destination. We combine the local knowledge of Porteños with the understanding a tourist needs. We are happy to share our tips with visitors about the best places to watch or participate in the tango to locations of the city's finest steaks and wines.
